As busy women, keeping our lives running as smoothly as possible, while also having time to relax and do things we enjoy can seem like a mythical and simply unattainable idea!
However, planning and organizing how we spend our time throughout the day, prioritizing tasks and activities, and managing our home helps us keep the chaos at a minimum (for the most part), our homes cleaned - well, at least livable), and most of all... Keeps us SANE and on top of things! - which in turn allows us to get the most important things done and have more for ourselves, even when it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day!
After giving birth to my youngest son, I found myself depressed, overwhelmed, stressed out, frazzled and completely resentful of my sudden “status” as a single mother. I was beyond overwhelmed, and at my lowest point, I felt helpless, stretched thin and exhausted. If I could be completely honestly, I was tired of taking care of everyone else while feeling neglected, worn down and discouraged.
Each day that passed, I lost hope that I could accomplish any of my “pre-mommy" dreams and live the life I truly wanted and deserved. And to add to all of that, I was unhealthy (inside and out) and gaining weight.
Once I accepted the condition of my life at that time, I realized I had a short amount of time to make some major decisions about my life, my home and my children. I accepted that I was starting my life over from scratch and I needed to get as organized as possible. I had to be more aware of how I used my available time, so I could get the most important things done, while taking care of both my children’s needs and tending to my own.
And I did just that. Every. Single. Day.
How, you ask? I took the time to find out what I really wanted in life and what was most important. I used the answers to those questions to create goals and guide my monthly, weekly and daily tasks. I started deliberately taking time for self-care to address and “de-clutter” my own limiting beliefs and emotional clutter. I created systems for meal planning, budgeting and managing my home on a daily basis!
The techniques I used to manage my time and organize my life, allowed me to go back to school and become a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, start a blog, homeschool my children and build a business that I love based on my passions and talents.
Now I get up and start my days with intention and joy. I have direction, clarity and purpose, and I am able to get the important things done, while having plenty of time for self-care, relaxation and creating change through my passions - without guilt.
I'm a firm believer that as women, we must find OUR way to be the best version of our selves, and by planning and managing our time, we get to do that. E get to make ourselves a priority AND have time to do more of the things we love- all while taking care of our family and our home.
I can honestly say that my life is fulfilling, balanced and productive- not just busy- and I am on a journey to help other women do the same. Let's walk this journey of peace and productivity together.
